This series of work is meant to inspire adventure, promote diversity- and remember the precious moments of joy and peace we've encountered while outside.

Each work, is inspired by trails I've walked myself- either on my own or with others. As mentioned in my introduction to this series, I seek to promote diversity in my work- reflecting those who are not often represented in outdoor spaces. My hope is for everyone to be able to see themselves in this collection.

'Cascading Colors' is based off a hike in Virginia in the Shenandoah National Park called ‘Dark Hollow Falls’. It’s an out and back trail, following a stream down to the waterfall’s end. It’s a short and steep hike that’s about a mile and a half in length.

This waterfall in the autumn is magical! I went with a group of girl friends on this trail one year. It was exciting watching each one marvel at the falls in their own way. It’s an intimate encounter when you are able to witness others awe-struck by nature. It can bring out the playful and adventurous sides of people we don’t always have the privilege to see.
