a little bit about Corrin, the vision behind Brevity art…

I’m Corrin, the voice and vision behind Brevity Art. I am a mixed media illustrator and fine artist currently living in Colorado Springs, Colorado with my husband and little black cat. I have a personal studio space in our home where I often paint, dance around with our cat, and run this little creative endeavor.

Human connection, beauty found in nature and all small critters excite me. I translate this excitement through my pencils and paintbrush, allowing peace, belonging, and hope to flow through my work. Art has always been a safe place for me to express myself, process, and celebrate life. By authentically living my own creative lifestyle, I seek to bring beauty to others and encourage their unique passions and dreams.

At a young age, I was always curious to see what came next from moving my pencil on paper- filling numerous sketchbooks and canvases with art from nature or my imagination. This eventually lead me to art school, attaining a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University.

My innate passion for children, lead me to teach art for the past five years and has equipped me to find a constant love of learning- easily relating to my student’s curiosities and discoveries. As I pursued my passion for art alongside my teaching career, I have continued to be inspired by life surrounding me. This has gently pushed me to uncover hidden gems in the heart; revealing hope, slowness, and healing.

a few fun facts about the me…

  • My husband and I love to travel, bike, hike, camp and rock climb.

  • We have a kitty name Koda who’s a chatter box and loves to play fetch.

  • Irises are my favorite flower and painted ladies are my favorite butterfly.

Keep updated on my Instagram and email newsletter to see where I’ll have my next pop up!

My deepest desire is that you would find inspiration, belonging and hope in my little corner.

About Brevity …

After graduating art school, I spent five years making art part time under the name ‘Art by Corrin’. As I recovered from a season of burnout and personal life-transitions, I felt the need for a change. Once I chose to slow down, taking many long walks, and journaling a heck of a lot- I slowly gained some clarity. I decided to funnel my creatives juices into rebranding. Previously, I had spread myself too thin- making art in various styles, forms and one too many commission projects (yikes! It’s hard to say no.). After much thought (and prayer) I chose the name ‘Brevity’. I decided upon this name because much of my work reflects brief moments in time or small creatures found nature who’s lives are quite short. This also brought back many memories from my younger years.

My childhood was filled with picture books, wild galavants through creeks, woods, and fields (in Richmond, VA) and constant discoveries of little insects or animals I found. On my fourth birthday I raced after a toad under the deck in my party dress! And when I was ten, I raised Painted Lady butterflies from caterpillars. My curiosities and wonders of insects and small creatures never seemed to diminish. Even now, when I run into small critters, I won’t hesitate to stop and visit with them.

All those childhood memories and my innate fascinations have lead me to this point in my artistic endeavors. Creating art that inspires me and brings me joy is a passion that fills me to my core. And my hope is that through the pursuit of my passions, I can encourage others to do the same. Our lives are too brief to not be enjoyed and committed to our life’s work. My hope is that we all find joy, peace and belonging in our beautiful, yet brief, lives.
