Monarch Butterfly

$75.00

This framed painting is roughly 3.5x3 inches in size. It was made using graphite, colored pencil, ink, gouache and watercolor paint.

The Monarch Butterfly is one of the largest butterflies in the Pacific Northwest with a wingspan of up to 4 inches wide. These are rarely spotted in the PNW because of their recent ranking on the endangered species list and their migration patterns. Milkweed (Monarch’s only plant they lay eggs on) has been decreasing all across the United States due to them being seen as invasive causing the Monarch’s population to dwindle. This awareness has caused many gardeners to begin planting milkweed in their flowerbeds to help monarch’s populations to bounce back! If you choose to participate, please make sure to plant native milkweed. :)
