This print is 8x10 inches. Originally painted on thick watercolor paper, it was created using gouache, watercolor, colored pencil, ink and graphite.

This series of work is meant to inspire adventure, promote diversity-
and remember the precious moments of joy and peace
we've encountered while outside.

Each work, is inspired by trails I've walked myself- either on my own or with others. As mentioned in my introduction to this series, I seek to promote diversity in my work- reflecting those who are not often represented in outdoor spaces. My hope is for everyone to be able to see themselves in this collection.

'An Aspen Dream' is based off a hike in Colorado Springs called 'Mount Buckhorn Trail to Seven Bridges Loop'. This is a beautiful trail with seven bridges crossing a creek (hence the name), beautiful flowers, and an amazing aspen forest. It’s a pretty popular hike during peak season and is about 6.8 miles.

My husband and I actually accidentally went on this hike. We took a wrong turn along the way and ended up discovering this was the hike we went on. Taking a wrong turn occasionally happens when hiking- thankfully, many times (if it’s a popular trail) you can ask for directions or information from other hikers along the way. Most people I’ve found are kind and can let you know where you are.

We stumbled upon the part of the trail where there we hundreds of aspen trees cover a grassy hill. We took a break and at lunch, enjoying the midday sunlight. It also was a windy day and hearing the leaves blow sounded like the trees were whispering. It was magical.
